SEPTEMBER 2007
Academic Eligibility for Student Athletes
(7th-12th grades)
-
CCS students must meet the following standards to be academically eligible for participation in athletics.
-
Must maintain a cumulative 2.0 GPA
(Evaluated every quarter)
-
Students whose GPA falls below a 2.0 will be ineligible to participate in athletics until the end of the following quarter. If at that point they meet all standards they will regain eligibility.
-
Must have a passing grade in all classes
(Evaluated every mid term and quarter)
-
Students who receive a mid term failing grade will have two weeks to improve to a passing grade if they wish to maintain eligibility.
-
If two weeks following a mid term report the student's grade is still failing then the student will be ineligible to continue participation in athletics until the end of that quarter.
-
If at that point they meet all standards they will regain eligibility.
-
Students who receive an end of the quarter failing grade will be unable to participate in athletics until after the following mid term.
-
If at that point they meet all standards they will regain eligibility.
Requirements for Athletic Lettering
A student athlete must meet the following requirements to be eligible to receive a CCS athletic letter:
-
Must complete the season and KAIAC tournament as a part of the team.
-
Must join the team at the first practice or within three weeks of the first practice.
-
If a student is ineligible to play at the beginning of the season because of grades or disciplinary reasons they must be a part of the team, attending practices and meetings, until they meet the requirements of eligibility. At that point they must complete the remainder of the season and KAIAC tournament as a full member of the team.
-
If a student loses their eligibility because of grades or disciplinary reason during the course of the season and are unable to participate in games they will not letter.
-
Injured players who are unable to play must remain a part of the team, attending all practices and games possible, until the completion of the season and KAIAC tournament.
*The athletic director and coaches will make the final decisions on lettering, using their own discretion.
