December, 6th, 2007

Dear Parents,

May the grace and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ fill you with joy during this season.  December is always a busy month as we come to the conclusion of the first semester. We are grateful for your prayers and cooperation in the education of your children.

Parents who need to request school records (transcripts, verification of payment receipt for tax purposes, etc.) for their children need to do so before December 12th, 2007. Any requests for transcripts or receipts will not be processed until Jan. 6th, 2008.

High school final exams are on January 23rd – 25th, 2008.  Those days will be half days for all students.  January 25th is the last day of school for the semester. The second semester will begin on January 28, 2008.

Enjoy your break. Thank you, again for your support in the development of this school for the glory of God.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT 2007
ART SHOW

5:00 pm, Friday, December 7

Dear Parents and Students,

I hope you will all make plans to be at our annual Christmas festivities at 5PM on Dec. 7. We have made arrangements with the church at the corner of our little road to use their parking lot for the occasion. Also you may use the parking garage and the bus parking area.

Your children and fellow students have been working very hard, and your attendance would mean a lot to them.

Students who will be performing will remain at school and we will feed them. Students who are not involved in the production should leave school at 3PM and return for the show. Faculty and staff who are not already involved should make themselves available to help as needed.

May you all have a great holiday season with your families!  May God grant us all traveling mercies and bring us back in the New Year safe and healthy!  I hope each one will take a few moments to reflect on the reason this season gives us such great joy. God came into our sin sick world to save all those who will receive His mercy and grace. Jesus is Lord!

Lock-in
Joseph Kim

The annual CCS lock-in was held at the Seoul Foreign School gymnasium last Friday.  Students from grades 6 to 12 participated and enjoyed a time of playing games, hanging out with friends, and just staying up all night!

The lock-in kicked off with a game where the students had to find their nametags that were clipped onto other people’s backs.  Games that followed included “the best,” “charades,” and “get together,” which entertained students of all ages.  For dinner, pizza was served, and many students digested the food by either playing basketball or volleyball during free time.  As time passed, the students, one by one, began to grow tired, slowly making their journeys into Dreamland.  Other energetic students did not get one minute of sleep, for they were entertained by the sports basketball and volleyball.

At around 6 o’clock, a breakfast of bagels and orange juice was served, and fatigued students sleepily woke up and enjoyed the early meal.  After this meal, the gym was cleaned by a group of students, and then the lock-in was officially over.  Students and teachers made their way out of SFS and returned to their homes, enjoying a time of comfortable rest.  This year’s lock-in was great fun!  I believe many will cherish the memories of this school lock-in for the rest of their lives.

Model United Nations
Joseph Kim

A selected group of CCS high school students will be participating in Model United Nations, a 3 day conference in which students from different international schools meet together and debate world issues.  To explain a little about the Model United Nations, it is a program in which participants from each school will be assigned a country (or countries) and will have to act as delegates from their specific countries, giving speeches on how their nation would react to a certain issue.  The main goal of the participants is to write a resolution for a certain affair and to have it passed as a valid solution for the problem.  This year, which will be CCS’s first appearance in this program, our students were assigned the countries of Italy and India.  Though this year will be our debut stage in the Model United Nations, we expect our students to learn more and be informed about foreign affairs.
